Subsidies to help summer concerts go ahead

A new range of subsidies has been set up to help cover the cost of organising large-format concerts, helping one of the sectors hit hardest by the Covid-19 pandemic and promoting concerts in the summer months at places such as the Fòrum and the Olympic Ring.

How do the subsides work?

A sum of 500,000 euros has been earmarked for new subsides to help cover operating costs for music promotors organising large-format concerts. The requisite for accessing the subsidies are:

  • Concerts must take place between 20 May and 30 September at the Fòrum or the Olympic Ring in Montjuïc.
  • Promotors must have a firm venue booking and date for concerts (a reduction of 40% will be applied on the costs of granting the use of the venue and the services provided directly).
  • A fixed price will be established per concert and venue, decreasing proportionately according to the number of concerts organised by the same promotor.

Subsidies will be assigned to each promotor following the strict order in which applications are made and the dates for the concerts. The first concert of each applicant will be assigned a subsidy, and thereafter until the allocated sum is used up.

Application forms can be downloaded from the City Council’s e-headquarters. Subsidy applications must be submitted using the procedures website.

‘Barcelona never stops’

The initiative forms part of the ‘Barcelona mai s’atura’, the plan to recover and relaunch the city in 2021, with a special emphasis on the sectors hit hardest by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The plan includes a special fund of 87 million euros to support production and employment, with direct aid for the sectors hit hardest by the pandemic (45 million), the improvement of employment and employability (12 million) and the promotion of the economy and revitalisation of consumption (30 million).
