New campaign to promote shopping locally

The new ‘Shop locally’ campaign is designed to boost neighbourhood commerce, underlining the added value provided by proximity, sustainability, quality and professionalism. At the same time, the campaign highlights the key role of shops providing essential products during the pandemic, recognising establishments which continued to serve the public. It also makes citizens jointly responsible when it comes to bringing life back to the neighbourhoods and ensuring the local network of shops.

The campaign points to the importance of a strong and healthy network of local commerce which forms part of the community, looks after the neighbourhoods and enhances social cohesion, safety, coexistence, the urban make-up, solid economic activity, jobs and more.

Barcelona’s official online shop moves closer

The final touches are now being made to BCN Market so that the city’s new official online shop can open in September. The platform is currently at the stage for city establishments to sign up. Shops and businesses can join via the website.

The website is a virtual shop window for neighbourhood commerce, featuring physical and online establishments alike. Customers can see the catalogue of products for all shops and businesses, reserve items from home, purchase and collect things or have them delivered.

The initiative offers an open and collaborative platform between establishments, the goal being to generate physical and online traffic for local businesses, make it easier for local people to find a result from searches for shops in the city and offer an alternative to large online sales websites.
