Three Kings Parade 2018: disruptions to mobility

As part of safety measures in place over Christmas, traffic will be restricted along the route of the Three Kings Parade from 5 pm to 9.30 pm. An hour before the event, and up until 10 pm, vehicles over 3.5 tonnes will not be able to circulate.

On 5 January the Three Kings Parade 2018 features a route of approximately 5 km around the city centre, which will result in disruptions to traffic. As from 5 pm the most affected districts will be Ciutat Vella, L’Eixample and Sants-Montjuïc, while traffic will also be affected in Sant Martí and on the Ronda del Litoral. Because of this, it is recommended to get to and from the main points of the parade on foot or by metro.

At 4 pm the Three Kings of the Orient will be arriving at the Moll de la Fusta wharf by schooner, setting off on the parade around the city at 6 pm and taking the following route: Pg. Circumval·lació – Av. Marquès de l’Argentera – Pg. Isabel II – Via Laietana – C/ Fontanella – Pl. Catalunya – C/ Pelai – Pl. Universitat – Rda Sant Antoni – C/ Sepúlveda – Av. Paral·lel – Pl. Espanya – Av. Reina Maria Cristina – Av. Francesc Ferrer i Guàrdia.

During the parade, and as is usual for large events, the alert phase of the municipal basic emergency plan will be activated for greater coordination with the security operation.

Vehicle restrictions

As part of safety measures in place over Christmas, traffic restrictions will apply to vehicles over 3.5 tonnes from 4 pm to 10 pm and during the parade itself the streets making up the route will be closed to traffic from 5 pm to 9.30 pm.

The City Police will be operating a substantial mobility operation to organise the corresponding detours, guarantee the progress of the parade and minimise disruptions to traffic. As the floats make their way around the planned route, streets will gradually be opened up again behind them.

Parking restrictions

The parade means parking restrictions at different points around the city, such as Pl. Catalunya, Pg. Circumval·lació, Pl. Josep Puig i Cadafalch, C/ Consolat de Mar and all other streets along the route. Restrictions include motorcycles on pavements (except on the side of Av. Paral·lel nearest the Besòs river, between C/ Sepúlveda and Pl. Espanya) and in Av. Icària, between C/ Wellington and C/ Ramon Trias Fargas.

As from 11 am on 5 January, parking meters will not be operating along the streets affected by the route and as from 12 noon the corresponding Bicing stations will be out of service and their bicycles removed.
