The straightest race in the city is back.

David Escudé, the Commissioner for Sport, presented this year’s edition of the Guàrdia Urbana Race. The ceremony was held in Barcelona City Hall’s Sala Lluís Companys at 11.30 am, and speeches were also made by Ramon Canela, the CEO of the DiR Group; Carles Reyner, spokesperson for Barcelona’s Guàrdia Urbana police force; Joan Villuendas, president of the Catalan Athletics Association; Nacho Cáceres, one of the top athletes taking part, and Ana Ceriola, president of Superar l’Ictus BCN [a stroke recovery organisation].

The 5th Cursa DiR Guàrdia Urbana race is being held on Sunday 28 May. Starting at 8.30 am, the 10-kilometre route run is along Avinguda Diagonal. The organises hope to beat their record number of 10,000 runners. For the second year running, it is also possible to opt for the 5-kilometre race, and the event will once again be open to families, with the 4th Cursa DiR Kids race, which is being held on the morning of Saturday 27 in the Piscines i Esports gardens.
