Work has begun to remodel Plaça Dolors Piera, between C/ Ciutat de Granada, C/ Sancho de C/ Ávila, C/ Roc Boronat and C/ Almogàvers. The project consists of a new recreational area for the Poblenou neighbourhood, next to a new public housing block being built by the Municipal Housing Trust.
The aim is to create a green space with the following features: a natural pond, a cultivation area with allotments, an area with pergolas, a children’s play area and a zone for petanque courts. Besides respecting existing trees, the green area includes new bushes and a small garden for fruit trees.
The overall investment for the project is 1,692,478 euros and work is expected to last until early 2018. The square is within the island delimited by C/ Ciutat de Granada, C/ Sancho de Ávila, C/ Roc Boronat and C/ Almogàvers and will serve the neighbourhood of El Parc i la Llacuna del Poblenou.
The project combines with other work being done. The site is also being prepared so that the Municipal Housing Trust (PMHB) can build a block of 68 homes. The block of flats will have two staircases, one with access in Plaça Dolors Piera 6, and the other with access in Plaça Isabel Vila 3. The building will consist of a ground floor plus eleven floors and homes will be between 50 and 74 square metres, with 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms. The ground floor will be used for storage lock-ups and premises. Work on the block is expected to take 24 months and the budget for the project is 5.3 million euros.
Preparations are also under way to connect the building with the Districlima hot and cold network.
