Work to revamp Av. Can Marcet between Pg. Vall d’Hebron and C/ Joan B. Cendrós is under way. In a bid to increase public use, the area is to get more green zones, spaces for strolling and relaxing, children’s areas and a dog zone. The remodelled area should be ready in June 2018.
The work forms part of the overall renovation plan, which backs local social urban planning via projects in 141 streets and everyday public spaces in the city’s 73 neighbourhoods.
The layout of the free space in Av. Can Marcet, in the district of Horta-Guinardó, should transform the site into a green area accessible for local residents to enjoy. It will feature five levels connected by paths, with two rest areas, two children’s play areas and a recreation zone for dogs.
Green zones will be extended with new species being planted in addition to existing trees, most of which will be kept, and additional features will include a spring, benches, seats and bicycle parking.
Work is already under way and should take six months. The budget for the project is 1,541,967 euros.
