Money raised by the tourist tax will be used to fund the draft project for access points to the Collserola Natural Park and the positioning of signposting from Barcelona, as well as the publication of a book of night time photos entitled Estels i ermites de Collserola, explaining the history of the area through its religious architecture and astronomy. The idea is to improve access to the park and boost knowledge about the wealth of its heritage.
The initiative is one of the measures in the Strategic Tourism Plan 2020 and consists of investing money raised by the tourist tax in improvements for local people, countering the impact of tourism in the city. Other measures have recently been announced for the city using money from the tax, such as bolstering the bus service in the summer and improving public squares in Gràcia.
The draft project outlines improvements in access signage for the area and for paths in poor condition which lead to the Passeig de les Aigües, as well as other improvements at entrance points to the park, particularly from the Pla dels Maduixers area.
At the same time, Barcelona Llibres will be publishing Estels i emrites de Collserola, a photographic work which uses stars as a common thread for looking at the religious architecture in the natural park. The book will be accompanied by a promotional clip and a travelling exhibition.
Another initiative will see a new edition of the map of the Collserola Natural Park, detailing all the park’s heritage and aiming to reflect the bond between the park and the city. The first edition of 20,000 maps is now out of stock and a new print run will mean a further 30,000 units.
