The big public demonstration to show our rejection of the attacks and violence, and support for peace, love and solidarity will take place on Saturday 26 August, from Jardinets de Gràcia to Plaça de Catalunya. The slogan will be the one created by ordinary citizens, “I’m not afraid”.
The day after the attacks, 100,000 people who had gathered in and around Plaça de Catalunya broke the minute’s silence with the cry “I’m not afraid“. With this slogan, Barcelona City Council and the Catalan government, the Generalitat, are calling on everyone to take part in the big demonstration that will start at 6 pm on Saturday 26 and follow the route from Jardinets de Gràcia to Plaça de Catalunya.
The demonstration aims to reclaim the Barcelona tradition of rejecting violence and sending messages of peace. A tradition inspired by the huge rejection of the war in Iraq in 2003 and many other mass expressions against terrorism.
