“155. La balada de Simón”

This exhibition from the Argentinian Gonzalo Elvira uses sketches, maps and documentary materials to reconstruct the biography of Simón Radowitzky. Radowitzky was a Ukrainian-Argentinian anarchist who sentenced to life imprisonment at the infamous penal colony of Ushuaia for assassinating the head of the police following its brutal repression of Red Week in Buenos Aires in 1909.

Elvira’s projects rescue dissident biographies that either fail to fit in properly with mainstream narratives or are expressly silenced.
